NEWS & EVENTS

Merry Christmas to you all and I wish you all a happy holiday🎄and the best for the coming year.
She’s been in our care for 3-4 weeks now and is ready for a place to call her own, a home or long-term foster home. The day we took her was traumatic for all and more so for her, she was clearly attached to the helper and adopter though to a lesser degree. The following couple of weeks were really tough with so much change and uncertainty for her it was truly heart-breaking watching her struggle.
She’s a smart dog and though a bit scared of unfamiliar things she’s done incredibly well adjusting to new noises and places. The first few days were especially hard for her it was soul destroying to watch her fight her fears. She shut down and didn’t leave the flat for 3 days, she wouldn’t. She didn’t eat or anything else either she barely moved.
All we could do was leave her to come round in her own time and that’s what her foster mum did, she ignored her. When she finally surfaced it was as though she was saying ”Ok, I’m ready now.”
She began to eat, drink and seek attention but still no interest in leaving the flat. Then came willingness to walk which terrified her initially however she desperately needed to pee after 4.5 days of refusing to leave. Boy did she pee followed by a speedy retreat home. Next, she lay on her bed and made herself comfortable and has continued to do so.
Last but not least she came looking for attention HOORAY head rub, scratch pat all most acceptable!
With each passing day as her confidence grew the walks became longer and she allowed a second person to take her further and for longer.
Athena is not a bad dog by any stretch, she craves attention and is desperate for love. That’s all she really wants in her life and so we’re searching for someone who will love her and be hers for the rest of her days. She’s loyal too but needs to be the only dog, probably the only pet unless you have fish! In return, you’ll have a friend for life.
My Christmas wish is for Atena and others like her. May they all find their person, their home (not a cage) and a life together with someone who loves them 💕
If you can help, please contact us asap, complete the appropriate questionnaire www.kirstenszoo.com – she needs to move very, very soon. Her foster mum has done so much for her and sadly all good fosters come to an end. Thank you, Annie, you’ll never know how grateful I am!
