Adoption day

It's the best weather around this time, or is it? I've just seen there's a typhoon floating around OH no not again! Well with that I'd best move on as fast as I can, so what about this month who got lucky, who hit the jackpot and who needs our help. Read on ...

Clyde - adopted by his lovely foster parents who couldn't let him go, if you saw how he is with them you'll understand why. He's in love, adoring eyes watching their every move, it's as if he can't believe his luck!

Cludo - we weren't sure what to expect but yipppeeeeeeeeeee he passed his blood test and is off to New Zealand. Everyone is happy with that result I can tell you.

Cognac - the 1st of the 4 greyhounds arrived and is loving everything and one. It has been a long, hard road for the lucky greyhounds who found good homes. I know the 4 we were able to help land the best homes,  we can only hope the others still in Macau are as fortunate.

Kara- we were all feeling sad and happy at the same time as she boarded the plane to San Francisco. She had more fosters than any dog should have but finally, one of those fosters became her permanent family and came back to get her. To all of you who did so much to get her there THANK YOU! Small words for such an enormously well-planned trip. She appears to have settled in almost ridiculously easy and we can only attribute this to her love for her people who she loves.

Rich - greyhound number 4 and the last to arrive here but like the others, he's in seventh heaven. His family wouldn't give up on rescuing a dog from Macau and kudos to you, you got an amazing dog and saved a life too!

Sisi - she'd never even met the dog or persons she was going to live within Dublin. I trusted the family member I know who has rescue dogs herself and after one conversation I knew it was a perfect situation and home for Sisi. She arrived and her foster aunty flew from NY to be at the airport for her arrival, nothing quite like a familiar face! The next thing we knew Sisi was charging around the garden with her new dog friend. I can tell you it was worth the 5+ year wait to see this amazing sight. If I could give every dog such an opportunity life would surely look brighter. Way to go Sisi, it's true every dog does have her day!

Trendy - greyhound number 3 landed and joined her family and of course new dog friends. Another life saved and a happy ending with a wonderful life ahead of her.

Winston- greyhound number 2, happy as are his parents. Together they've started a new chapter in their lives with their new quadruped. A lot of work, determination and stress went into their adoptions with the ultimate result. Welcome to Hong Kong and the best part of your lives ...

Coco - our amazing girl will go on trial in a few days. she and her new family and quadruped are a good fit she'll be staying put. Watch this space ...

- New dogs -

Cherry - after a long month, she had to leave everyone she had ever known including her bff Martin. We tried so hard to keep them together alas we couldn't find a foster able to have them both. He continued to lick her face all the way to the foster home when they had to part company. It was almost as if they knew what was about to happen. Now in foster with a wonderful couple and coping with being in a flat and the lift, the people but the strange noises are unnerving and scary at times.

Darlene  - she's in foster and learning how to live in a flat with people and all that goes with it. Hopefully, she'll be confident enough to go outside and walk on a lead that's when we know she's ready and will come and join our adoption events. She's a sleek, slender gentle looking Sharpei x and she will be looking for a forever home ...

Digby - he's a handsome 10-month-old Lab x and small for his age and mix. Very friendly loves kids and full of life with energy to burn, he'd be a great dog to run with as that's one of his hobbies. The others were eating, wagging his tail and playing. He's healthy, ready to go if the right family comes along.

Dinky  - she's the cutest little girl who wants nothing more than to sit on your lap or next to you and get all the love and cuddles available. She's happy to go for her walks, she shuffles around taking time to smell the flowers. Such a dear little one who needs to be the love of someone's life and soon.

 - She's a large rambunctious youngster with a zest for life. She needs a person to match her and spend time enjoying the landscape and trails in Hong Kong. She's a delightful dog with a kiss for everyone who crosses her path. To know her is to love her ...

  - he's a gentle soul, a real sweetheart as easy as can be. He loves company, kids and it seems cats are no problem either. Sadly his biggest love is his bff Cherry and if it were possible to reunite them it would be the best result ever.

- next months poster boy and oh what a handsome guy he is! He's doing so well living in the city after living in a quieter area until recently. He's mellow with a gentle demeanor who asks little but gives lots.

We have more of course but he's a sneak preview of who needs your help. Come and see us next month on the 11th and 25th at the Peak Cafe or meet the dogs in their foster homes whenever.

Have a great month and thank you for your support, help, and care - see you in November. It will be hard to beat this month's amazing successes but let's give it a go.

A new month, a new venue and new homes - Cats for October

If every month was like October there'd be no cats in need of homes haha - ok I can dream! We had an amazing month and first time adoption day at PAWTNERS proved successful at least with every cat we took there adopted plus more. Singles, pairs and singles who became pairs it was marvelous, amazing phenomenal. 8 weeks old up to a 10-year-old FIV positive cat - we had them and homed them!I'll stop gushing now, for a while anyway.
Huge thanks to Deki for giving us a new place, space and for making us incredibly welcome. We are going to be at PAWTNERS each and every month on the third Sunday of the month for cats.
We'll also be doing puppy training classes too starting this month. Like to know more? email me or send a message through the website.

As always THANK YOU to our adopters, friends, fosters and volunteers - without whom we couldn't do what we do!

Aditi & Zabi - as hard as it was for their foster they finally found a home and space to charge around too.

Becca & Baldric - Having been visited once the family came back and took them home, two children, two cats everyone happy!

Balu & Bilbo

Carmel - She was the first to go and to a first time home but oh boy is she the Queen of her castle!

Casper & Charlie - this is their second home in a week as they didn't fit with the dogs but they certainly fit with their new mum!

Casper and Charlie

Charlotte & Chandler - they weren't a pair originally, however, have become bff. They have two laps and more love than they've ever had aaah!

Claude - He will be going to New Zealand after all and the family will stay together - the best possible result Yipppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Claude and Cludo

Nik Nak - At last, she found the home she's been waiting for, a cat to run around and play with and people attention too!

Nik Nak

Rolly - This was a lovely start to the day with our FIV cat going to her forever home. We know she's a cuddle bug and her mum wanted the same. Fantastic, the perfect pair!

Tilly - Adored by her fosters and she got to stay with them. They adore our cuddly girl and she them - all the attention she missed she is receiving tenfold.

Zelda - New Zealand? We are still waiting in anticipation fingers n toes crossed.

Newbies -

Candice - she's absolutely gorgeous, to know her is to love her.

Daisy - she was one of our cats and returned as we always take our own back. Dad travels too much and she deserves better and he knew it.

Delilah - and her kittens Dolly & Dimple - the kittens are adorably friendly, we got them young enough to socialise them. They are strikingly beautiful too. Mum is still very scared and thankfully her fosters are giving her all the time she needs to come round.

Dexter - wow he's just the absolute best, ridiculously friendly and super cuddly. He'd fit in any home with anyone.

Didi - she's as white as snow with her different eye colours quite the beauty and young too.

Doris + 3 newborn - mum is being oh so protective as expected, she's a good mummy. We're unsure of the sex of the babies but they're but a week old. Watch this space .....

Dulcie - she's a funny, friendly cat who loves a cuddle and all the attention you can give. Being a tortoiseshell she's probably going to want her own company and yours no other cat!

Most in need -

Charlie & Lola - they have a little extension until December when the resident cat arrives.

Charlie & Lola

Pia - she's a funny girl who loves but from a distance, however, she and the resident cat have mad play sessions both day and night.

Santa Paws - sadly everyone loves him but nobody has adopted him. He'll make you feel special and make you smile daily.

Santa Paws

Yudo - what can I say, he's such a superhero, this amazing cat has been to hell and back and is now making friends with cats as well as humans!

Winny & WinonaThey're quite simply stunning in every way! Affectionate, friendly, gentle and gorgeous! What else is there?

Winny & Winona

Farewell Stalin / Brooklyn

Mimi and Deborah are missing the friend they knew as Brooklyn, we called him Stalin.

When we got him from a breeder and it was love at first sight for everyone, a large cat with a larger personality. However, he had a serious heart condition and ore .........

The cardiologist said after his health check and an x-ray. ''His abdomen is filled with a dark red fluid, blood and his heart is like a flabby carrier bag''.

Even on a large amount of expensive medication not forgetting the discomfort and stress of administering it, his days were numbered.

Stalin was forced to breed for years and at the end of his useful breeding life, he was discarded. The breeder lied about his health, his age, about everything and continued to use him knowing she was passing on the same heart condition! DON'T buy from a breeder - you are saying yes to this!
The vet said he had 2 weeks to live, 2 months tops and needless to say we didn't try to home him we counted each day a blessing.

He had 3 fosters before settling with his last family and friends Mimi the cat adopted from us, and Deborah the dog. They adored him, so much so they and gave up their spot on mum n dads bed to sleep near Brooklyn.

His heart finally gave out on the 11th October and he passed away peacefully in his dad's arms.

RIP Brooklyn, you brought so much happiness to two and four-legged friends. Your funny quirks and fascination for playing with water and hiding, peeping round doors and boxes will stay with us forever.

Dogs, budgies and a bunny adopted in September

After the devastating typhoon the damage still showing, quite a few young and older birds were found, alive but exhausted. Some of our friends Daniel & Andrew, Evania, Ian & Pam provided safety in their baths and washbasins. A day or two later the birds were stronger and eating well, ready to leave their safe havens.

I'd like to say Thank you also to those who helped clear the trail where many of us walk our dogs - Ashley, Daniel, Andrew you did us proud!

Which of our dogs got lucky this month?

Aladdin - Our big, silly gorgeous puppy found his forever home, we knew he would and in the end, he had a few lined up waiting to adopt him. We think he and his new mum are the best matches and we know he'll be loved for life! Thank you also to his fosters who helped him on his way - Imann, Kiran, Lauren & Nick and Sherman.

Bart - He was 12 when we took him and having had a miserable life and never leaving his home for any reason then his life changed. He went into foster and was adopted a week later by his fosters. The perfect home and he's on his way to Thailand where he'll live out his life with an extended family and 2 pugs! A bit of a fairy story!

Bee - She was sought after as many could see just how special she was, she is. The family who adopted her have a cat who tolerates her, perhaps she as Vernon is a cat and a half with enough confidence for two cats! She's happy,  loved and we couldn't be happier for her.

Clara - The cutest little black beauty was adopted after a two-week trial. We knew she wouldn't be back it was love at first sight all round she's adored and adorable!

Clarke - As expected he was the most popular at the adoption day. However, it was wonderful to see a few people adopting mixed breed puppies when Clarke found his forever home. He fit like a glove with a family who have a Poodle x to keep him in line and he's a happy, playful and enjoying life his past forgotten.

Cameron -  Clara's brother was adopted after his trial, they too said they couldn't part with him he's part of the family and they love him too much. That's just what we want to hear.

Coffee - The only survivor of her litter having lost her mum too, they all starved to death when the keeper himself passed away. She loved her carers but they knew they couldn't give her all she needed. She needed more space, more training and more exercise too. All of which she'll get and as much love as she can handle. Perfect for our big gentle girl.

Cooper - He stayed with me for a short time and was the perfect gentleman. My dogs were very good with him and he them, so well behaved and loving. His dad is turning his life around to accommodate and make him happy. At 10 years we don't know what kind of life he had before being left on a pier, dumped from a boat, all we know is having had a 'health makeover' and dental his future looks bright.

Colin - the third of the three puppies and the only one adopted on the spot. He's adored and we know he too is a lucky and loved puppy with an ideal home and the best parents. Thank you!

Kara - it feels like it's taken forever however after 12+ months and numerous fosters and let downs too,  she's finally found a home. She missed out twice on homes overseas both in New Zealand having failed the blood test for tick fever. Well, third time lucky and if all goes to plan she'll be off to San Francisco next month, in a couple of weeks actually and this really is cause for celebration I can tell you!

Rich - The fourth of four greyhounds, Rich found the right home and family and we're thrilled to bits. It may have taken some time but it was well worth the wait. He and the others will be in Hong Kong quite soon having done their quarantine. There'll be a celebration for sure after a very long, laborious few months for those involved they can finally relax with their dogs at home, safe and free from the sad existence they'd endured in Macao

Zeno - Our oldest boy was adopted and it was the best match after his foster mum already knew him so well. He was so attached to her and wasn't shy about turning his back on anyone showing interest in him and climbing onto her lap. He had already made up his mind he was staying and so he did.

Sisi - this is a particularly special one for some of us as she and her brother have been with me for longer than any other dogs. They spent most of their lives in kennels, over 5 years. I inherited them and though many dogs of all ages, type and size were adopted or fostered even sent overseas. Sisi and Toby were always overlooked, until last week when a friend contacted me and said her sister who lived who lived in Dublin wanted to adopt Sisi WOW. I almost fell off my chair, speechless!

Watch this space as we see what comes next for Sisi....................

Who still needs a lovely home?

Cherry - With Martin - the owner passed away, now looking for a home, she's young and lovely.

Clyde - the little poodle who came with Cooper, now fully recovered and loving life, walks and company.

Coco - we all love her she's a favourite, however, having only three legs has put off more than a few which is sad at best. She runs like the wind and has no problem at all and she has the sweetest personality.

Harriet - my long term foster and the dog who makes me laugh most. Her unique quirks make her more adorable, her daily aerobics in the grass or on the street. Upside down legs going everywhere she's a hoot!

Martin - A lovely dog and having lost his keeper now in desperate need to belong once more. Can you help, please?

Rocky - another gentle medium/ large dog in need having been left behind when his keeper left. A terrible thing to do .........

Salvadore - Our big heart melter - to know him is to love him, and yet we've had him for a year. Overlooked repeatedly, he'll have his day!

Toby - last but by no means least. He was never supposed to come to me but as he won't be going to New Zealand, he failed the blood test, he's with me though not my or his choice. He's not a difficult dog by any stretch, in fact, quite the opposite. Toilet trained, quiet,  easy to walk too, however, I have too many and would love to see him enjoying the attention and love he so deserves.

Carter aka Albert - This is the saddest edit I have had to write since Ulric aka Marcel who lived together with Albert. He had a home any Pug would love. He was so happy, Albert enjoyed his life and had great friends Marcel until he passed, Elvis who he loved and Zoe. Sadly he lost his appetite and went downhill very quickly and he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Within a couple of days he had worsened and to such a point it would have been cruel to allow the suffering to continue. He was put to sleep and went to that special place that dogs go - he and his pal Marcel will be hanging out having a laugh together. Your short time with your family has left its mark on them all. RIP sweet boy gone but not forgotten!

Our Budgies

Then came the abandoned budgies....... 5 in total and all in need of someone to care for them and properly. Thankfully our friend and bird man was willing to take them. His new aviary is bigger and they can live in a beautiful setting and fly as they were intended and not crammed into a tiny cage where flying is but a dream!

Our lovely bunny Tou B was adopted too and the timing perfect as our friend will be so busy packing up to head to his new life in Australia. At least he knows his bunny will be safe, happy and cared for!

All Things Cat

We may not have had an adoption day this month but we were still able to home a few cats and kittens. We're looking forward to more confirmations too, we have a few on trial and of course interests coming in as fast as cats and kittens!

Our last day at Whiskers n Paws saw nothing homed and it's a long time since we didn't home at an adoption event. However Matilda, Abby and Wilma were placed independently and are thriving.

Since moving to a new venue, we've been very busy readying ourselves in preparation for the 7th and 21st of October when we'll do two adoption days. We've been rather busy on the homing front which is wonderful and just what we needed!

Huge thanks to all of you who have helped with the transition, to all our friends, followers and most importantly foster families without who we couldn't do what we do so well!

August Adoptions -

Abby - this pretty little one went through the wars with a prolapsed rectum. It took time to heal, but heal it did thanks to the constant care and attention of her foster and of course the vet at Acorn. Today she's a very healthy, happy little girl. She's spoiled and adored as all cats ought to be!

Matilda- her sibling killed by a snake and though people offered to take her, they were refused.  Matilda was neglected and not fed well either right up to the last week before they finally left the territory. I finally got her because I gave an ultimatum... now or never! Those who tried to help Matilda (not us) were treated with contempt and accused of all manner of things! All I can say is thank god I saved for from a horrible life and person! Poor cat and a sad story, but with a happy ending.

Wilma - Our princess was adopted, she went to a home where she continues to be treated like royalty! She's quite a character and a very happy single cat as all the attention is for her and she's as happy as a clam. Her nasty breeding days long behind her and love and good food now on the menu!

September adoptions -

Anna - such a lovely easy creature, she was ever so popular with everyone who met her. She has a gorgeous family, 2 children who will grow up loving their first cat. An ex-breeder cat who will have a happy life and all the attention she's missed and no doubt longed for.

Beryl one of the most playful, entertaining cats and a total charmer, she could charm the birds from the trees! In a new home with a cat Beryl has been with other cats and can amuse herself with a cat, a person or pretty much anything, even a hair clip. Her new potential friend (also adopted from us) hasn't had the same background and we aren't even sure how much time if any, she spent with a cat or cats. All we can do is wait and hope they decide they can be friends ......... and it seems to be happening , YAY!

Bob & Barbara the adorable duo got to stay together in the end and they are thriving. Not sure if they've met the resident cat yet but it'll certainly be interesting when they do. I have the feeling the kittens will be all over her like a rash - oops oh such fun!

Casper & Charlie - they were very fortunate and chosen over a few other pairs of kittens to live with 2 dogs mellow, pretty laid back dogs. As it turns out the cats have no fear of the dogs, in fact its the other way round the dogs are scared of the kittens ha ha lets see what happens next. The kittens have no idea the dogs aren't cats or scared and they're jumping on them and flying round the house at high speed - oh my! Hoping this will change and soon.

Chippy & Charles - who would have been the first adoptions in our new venue had it not been for a typhoon. Well they got their home anyway, it just took a couple of days longer. They're delightful and have a great home and a happy future. They're 2 of the 8 kittens we've been slowly taking in and moving on to lucky adopters - the last two are coming soon the other 6 - adopted YAY.

Christopher - he arrived with his siblings (as above) and before we knew it he was off to his forever home. A home any pet would want with an older cat, not to mention the best dog Amy, plus a family all animal lovers.

Connie - no surprise she was adopted, she's adorable and that's why. A kitten anyone would want as she is the purrrect kitten!

Cora & Cyrus - they were barely with us but their playful adoration for each other melted hearts and they found themselves a home. Off they went and we know the children already LOVE LOVE LOVE them as we did.

Zena- she spent a few weeks in the cat room in Whiskers n Paws where she barely moved other than to eat and use the litter tray. We moved her to a foster home and she blossomed. Within a couple of weeks she was out and about,  not too long later she was interacting and accepting pats and more attention. Once again the love and care given by a foster family gave her a second chance at happiness.

Alfred - he's settling in and adjusting to life in a home, he has a wonderfully patient family who have given him all the time her needs. They want him to be a part of the family as much as I believe he wants to be. We are all rather excited when we receive updates and hear how happy he is ............ watch this space!

Sassy - after many months in foster we finally found her a place where she just might fit. Sassy's new place has a cat and two dogs for company - oh and a person of course! She also has all the time in the world to come round and join the clan which she will have to at some point. We aren't worried about her as she's already out and about and slowly checking out the family. Fingers and toes crossed she's found her niche!

We look forward to seeing you on the 7th and again on the 21st at PAWTNERS on First Street in Sai Ying Pun - all details on the website where you can see our available cats/kittens and complete the adoption form online. You can also email me This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any further questions.

A new month, a new venue and a new kitten or cat for you to take home. See you soon!
